Tanzania Camping and walking safari

This is our Big Adventure safari and just right for you if you want to experience everything that Tanzania has to offer. We’ll take you on a journey of sights and sounds and colours: a journey where you’ll witness a landscape of diversity and nature at its finest. From the golden plains of the Serengeti to the lush exclusivity of Tarangire; from the russets of Lake Natron to the pink shimmer of flamingo on Soda Lake at the Ngorongoro Crater, you’ll travel across a glorious patchwork of habitats framed eternally by deep blue skies, golden horizons and the indigo of star-filled nights. And all this, of course, with the opportunity to watch some of the most spectacular animals on the planet, including the Big Five. Adventures don’t come any bigger than this.

Day 5: Mto wa Mbu– Lake Natron (Cultural)

After breakfast you will leave Mto wa Mbu town and head to Lake natron. From here you will travel on a spectacular and very bumpy gravel road along the Rift Valley Escarpment with Ol Doinyo Lengai “the holy mountain” of the Masai in the distance. Today’s destination is the typical Masai village of Ngare Sero in the hot and dusty Rift Valley. From a distance you might be getting to see the pick glow of the flamingoes while breeding and feeding and with the going down of the sun you will join a Masai guide on a walk to a nearby waterfall. After enjoying the beauty of the nature here you would return to the campsite for the dinner and the overnight stay.

Day 6: Lake Natron – Serengeti National Park

After an early start, you will travel along adventurous dirt tracks with breath-taking views as your vehicle climbs out of the Rift Valley to reach the grassy plains of the Serengeti by midday. In Massai Serengeti means “endless plains” and truly you would find the grassland savannah stretching here to the horizon with the dotted grazing animals. Serengeti is a must sought park for anyone planning for Tanzania. Because , I is the park , where the greatest wonder of the world “ The Annual migration of wild beasts “ is conducted in which millions of the animals march in quest of fresh pasture and water without caring for their life and even the life of their calves. After your game viewing you will overnight at the campsite in the northern of the park.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park

The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti National Park. The areas that you will visit will depend upon where the migrating herds are to be found. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals. During the short rainy season in November and December the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June they return up north. As the migration depends upon the yearly rains, the location of the herds might vary from year to year but guide will know where to see them best. After game drive you will be taken to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 8:Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast you will join another game drive in the Serengeti National Park and you might spot animals you haven’t seen during the last two days. The Serengeti is also home to the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard and today you might be able to tick off all the members of this group. After lunch at a picnic site, you will drive in direction of the Ngorongoro Crater and as soon as you have reached the edge of the crater, the caldera opens up before you. This approximate 20 km wide crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to over 25,000 animals. You will drive to the campsite from where you can witness the sun set over the crater.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater – Lake Eyasi

Rise and shine! After breakfast at day break you drive down into the crater. Inside the world’s biggest caldera you will see a diversity of wildlife ranging from black rhinos, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, lions and leopards, to elephants and mountain reedbucks in the forests on the slopes. You might also see buffaloes, spotted hyenas and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch you will leave the crater in the afternoon to travel to Lake Eyasi for dinner and overnight. In this evening you will be introduced to your guide and be briefed for the next day activities.

Day 10: Lake Eyasi – Mto wa Mbu

Lake Eyasi is a very scenic soda lake found on the southern border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This less visited lake lies at the base of the Eyasi escarpment on the western rift valley wall. This afternoon you will be introduced to the extraordinary people who belong to an indigenous tribe known as the ‘Hadzabe’ (hunter-gatherer bushmen). The tribe inhabits the shores of Lake Eyasi as do the Nilotic-speaking Datoga tribe. You will visit these tribes, which will include a visit to their homesteads, learn about their way of life, animal tracking, medicinal plants, and much more. Some wildlife and a wide range of bird species can be viewed during walks around the lake, which can be arranged. After cultural activities we will drive back to Mto wa Mbu for overnight and dinner.

Day 11: Mto wa Mbu – Tarangire NP – MOSHI

After breakfast we depart to Tarangire national park. This will be our last day of safari. This park is extremely famous and special for its diverse landscape and nine different vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be welcomed by the ancient and gigantic Baobab trees, which make even animals like the giraffe look tiny. The game drive goes on till about late afternoon and includes a small stop for a picnic lunch. The 3,000 Square kilometers park gets its name from the Tarangire River that flows through it. The river attracts a lot of diverse animals and you should be able to spot a lot of elephants, giraffe, lions, antelopes and zebra. After the afternoon game viewing and a picnic lunch, you will leave Tarangire national park and drive back to Moshi, where you will arrive in the early evening.
